Unexpressed emotions will never die. They are buried alive and will come forth later in uglier ways.
Sigmund Freud.
When the cover says it is a thriller, it really means it. The way the story is told always seems like you know how its gonna end, especially if you have seen as many crime documentaries as me but that lack of predictability is what makes this story so much thrilling. The characters are well written especially the prime suspect ALICIA BERENSON( a well celebrated artist).
The story is told from the perspective of two people, one is THEO FABER a psychotherapist based in London who wants to eagerly help Ms. Alicia because he relates to her due to somewhat similar trauma and other one is ALICIA BERENSON through the pages of her diary . The novel starts pretty slow as per the fact that it is more focused on THEO FABER in the beginning. But, as the story moves forward into the depths of the tragic life of ALICIA BERENSON, it gets more and more puzzling and interesting. You can't help but empathize with ALICIA till the very end.
I like how the story told us about the Greek tragedy of ALCESTIS. That tragedy kinda sparked an interest in me to read more about Greek mythologies and tragedies cuz why not.
If I were to describe the story in one sentence then it would be the one mentioned as my favorite quote from the book. In the words of one of characters, at the end of day I do not regret reading the book rather I am glad I did.
(Spoiler alert)
But the book left me at least with few questions;
1. Why did PROFF. DIOMEDES retire early?
2. What happens to KATHY afterwards the arrest of her husband?
3. How did Theo Faber get to write a book after he was arrested?
Can you give this book to me
