The journey of medical school was and still is unimaginable for someone like me to experience. It started after two months waiting for a verdict on whether our entrance test was even valid considering all the controversy around it being leaked which to be very honest does not seem far from truth because of corruption being a norm in our society. After two unusually long months, I finally made into medschool the very first from my family with a lot of expectations not only from my family but from myself. The daunting and exciting first day where I had to wake up at 5:30 am in the morning to catch a bus which would then lead me to another bus at 7:15am since, the administration did not think we were in urgent need of hostels. We arrived at around 8:30 in the university. I had been to this very building not a year ago but this time, it felt different like I was passing a milestone or something.
Two minutes or less walking into main campus, we were welcomed by vultures who offered us to show a way to the class but instead wanted newbies to rag, a culture that to this day I don't agree with. Ethically, one should help new people coming instead of preying on them but, like I foresaid corruption is a norm in our society which includes the corruption of minds as well. After a ragging session of around 15 minutes where we were forced to chant for some SHEIKH sahab we were shown the directions to class by a kind senior and a much kinder janitor. We made into the class late, from the back gate since it was the first day everyone had rushed to occupy the first rows. We sat at the back of student packed class where we were first introduced to teachers for the upcoming two years and after half an hour basics about subjects were started to being taught to us. We sat in the same class for 3 hours and were not even allowed to go out because of Seniors in the premises, We made it out at 1 pm and then it was again a two bus fair back home which left me tired to do anything for the rest of day. This continued for week then, we were finally allotted a room in hostel. Till this very point, I was still very excited about the entire process but it was soon about to change.
